COVID-19 Update:

February 8, 2021

Current State of Rock Valley:

Although the Iowa state restrictions have been lifted, we at Rock Valley Physical Therapy will continue to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for our patients and staff.. Our current procedures are still consistent with the best evidence on keeping people safe and have been working.  Currently we have no known cases of transmission within the walls of Rock Valley and over the past 3 weeks none of our co-workers have tested positive.

About 60% of Rock Valley staff have received at least the first dose of the vaccine and several their second.  This prompts the question of what this means in terms of mask wearing and social distancing.  There is a certain logic to thinking that once you have received both doses – no mask is required.  However, at this time “experts” recommend continuing to wear masks.  Clinical trials for approval of the vaccine were based only on the effectiveness of a person becoming ill from COVID.  The trials did not evaluate to what extent a person having had both doses could transmit the virus – even if asymptomatic.  Currently there has not been enough study to reach a definitive conclusion and therefore we not be modifying our policy.

Rock Valley will continue to require mask wearing by our coworkers and patients – even after having received both doses of the vaccine.  This may change at some point but it is not indicated yet.  We will continue to monitor and update as new information emerges.

Thank you for trusting Rock Valley with your care!
