Amy Johnson, PT, OCS, COMT

Located in Washington, IL | Phone: 309.444.1030 | Fax: 309.444.1060

Amy graduated from Bradley University in 1997 with a Bachelor’s  Degree in Physical Therapy.  She has worked in outpatient orthopedics in the Peoria community for the past 15 years.  After completing the necessary training at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, she became a USAW Sports Performance Coach in 2002.  She was certified in 2005 as a Credentialed Clinical Instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA.)  In 2006, she achieved the designation of Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist through the APTA.  She has completed post-graduate work in the spine and specializes in treating individuals with orthopaedic and sports-related injuries.  In 2013, Amy received the designation of Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist through MAPS (Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars). She is an active member of the APTA, IPTA, and NOF (National Osteoporosis Foundation.)

Amy grew up in Pekin, IL and currently resides in Washington, IL.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, photography, tailgating at University of Illinois football games, and spending time with her husband, Rodney, and two children.

What made you decide on this career?
"For me becoming a physical therapist was part of my cost-saving plan for the future.  Throughout high school, I was very involved in athletics (swimming, basketball, and softball.)  With athletic participation comes the risk of injury, and I had my fair share ranging from a dislocated shoulder to a fractured wrist.  Both injuries eventually resulted in surgery.  This prompted me to want to learn how to better care for myself because I knew as life passed I was not going to get any younger."

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
"The most rewarding part of my job is the patient encounters.  I enjoy getting a snapshot in to the lives of so many people from so many different walks of life.  I also enjoy working for a company in an environment where quality is emphasized over cost.  I am lucky to be a part of such a talented staff of professionals."
