One of the best: Rock Valley garners another Top Workplace USA Top 10 Honor

For the fifth consecutive year, Rock Valley Physical Therapy has earned the 2021 Top Workplaces USA Top Ten award, issued by Energage, a purpose-driven organization that develops solutions to build and brand Top Workplaces.

Rock Valley was honored Sept. 9, at a reception at the Sheraton West Hotel, at Des Moines, Iowa.

One of the largest therapist-led physical therapy companies in the nation, Rock Valley Physical Therapy covers seven regions, features 53 clinics over two states and employs over 470. Headquartered in Moline, IL, Rock Valley Physical Therapy was founded in 1984 by Milan, IL, native Steve Layer.

This is the second year for Top Workplaces USA, which expanded nationally by 50 percent over the past 12 months. Top Workplaces USA is built on the program’s 15-year regional history, surveying more than 23 million employees across 58 markets for the regional Top Workplaces awards.

To be eligible, organizations must have a minimum of 150 employees. Each entity was judged by Energage, the research partner of the Des Moines Register, using employee survey responses benchmarked with industry wide standards.

Rock Valley’s foundation is based on its rehabilitative solutions and has long been recognized for exceeding expectations in the care and concern of its patients. Dedicated to being an ethical healthcare partner, Rock Valley is a place where each employee feels genuinely appreciated and realizes his or her maximum potential. Since its first day, Rock Valley has followed the mantra that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. It is an organization of care providers, led by care providers, who firmly believe in the mission to improve the health of the communities where we live and work.

“Rock Valley is a growing physical therapy organization that is therapist- led and therapist- owned,’’ said Debbie Healy, PT, OCS, MBA, Vice-President/Growth and Development, for Rock Valley. “We believe in a legacy model where our successful talent will continue to grow our organization. We constantly ask the question, “What can we do to make it easier to take care of our patients and our employees?” We are blessed to work with staff that have clinical excellence, that are growth-minded and always put people and purpose first. Our employees help create opportunities to lead process changes, mentor others and engage in their communities. “Making Better Lives” starts behind the scenes and we hope is felt by all the great lives our employees impact as well as co-workers.’’

Since 2014, Rock Valley has been a fixture on the Top Workplaces list (Midwest/Iowa). It joins 30 other employers with Iowa locations receiving Top Workplace awards nationally. Top Workplaces has worked in conjunction with the Des Moines Register to recognize companies throughout the state that continually achieve the highest standards in employee relations, workplace environment and client satisfaction.

“Those organizations that prioritize workplace culture by listening to their employees, putting them first, and including them in the tough decisions going forward will come out on top,” said Dan Kessler, president and CEO of Energage

Winners were also recognized for four “cultural excellence” categories.

They were:

  • Clued-in leaders, based on employee responses to the statement “senior managers understand what is really happening in this company.”
  • Top leaders, based on responses to the statement “I have confidence in the leader of this company.”
  • Communication, based on responses to the statement “I feel well-informed about important decisions at this company.”
  • Innovation, based on responses to the statement “New ideas are encouraged at this company.”
