Rock Valley Physical Therapy excited and honored to be part of the 27th TBK Bank Quad Cities Marathon

The TBK Bank Quad Cities Marathon captures the essence of an amazing community, uniting five municipalities over a fun-filled weekend in September.

Rock Valley Physical Therapy, committed to bettering the lives of those communities – and beyond – is excited to again be an integral part of the event set for Sept. 21-22.

That was the message shared recently at a fun-filled, laugh-a-minute “thank you’’ session at Bettendorf, Iowa’s, Crawford Brew Works.

“This marathon – No. 27 – is a lifestyle vehicle for the entire community,’’ said race director Joe Moreno, who during the many wonderful announcements made, shared with the many gathered, that Mike Mallon – when Moreno steps aside – will take over as TBK Bank Quad Cities Marathon race director. “It has a fitness component to it, a goal-setting side to it, a charitable arm and an opportunity for an entire community to come together,’’ added Moreno. “I am taken with all aspects of it. It simply shows what can be done when a special community – and the Quad Cities is special – works together.’’

A longtime TBK Bank Quad Cities Marathon staple, Rock Valley Physical Therapy is excited to engage in something that resonates with its message of tremendous care, compassion, and great health.

“I’m honored to stand before you as a representative of Rock Valley Physical Therapy, the title sponsor of the TBK Quad Cities Marathon Relay,’’ Danny Fleener, Clinic Manager, PT, MPT, OCS, told those gathered. A gifted runner with a bevy of marathons completed across the United States to his credit, Fleener said it is a special time at Rock Valley.

“This year holds special significance for us as we mark our 40th anniversary,’’ added Fleener.

“For four decades Rock Valley has been dedicated to serving our community, empowering individuals to achieve their optimal health and wellness. Many of our therapists are not just healthcare professionals but also passionate runners themselves. They lace up their shoes alongside fellow enthusiasts and share their love for running, spreading the message of health and wellness everywhere.’’

As part of its longstanding commitment to bettering the Quad-Cities’ running community, Rock Valley Physical Therapy will host a running symposium June 6, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Rock Valley’s 850 43rd Ave Moline (Suite 300) location.

Whether you are an experienced runner or just starting, Rock Valley invites you to learn, connect, and share best practices with the Quad-Cities running community. Admission is free and includes interactive sessions to help optimize one’s running performance. Speakers will target mobility, strength training, breathing strategies, purposeful training, race planning and recovery. Further discussion will include dry needling benefits and information on nutrition and hydration.

The TBK Quad Cities Marathon is the highlight of a weekend filled with race-related events, culminating in the 26.2-mile Sunday, Sept. 22. The half marathon, marathon relay, 10K, 5K, a 1-mile walk/run, kids micro marathon and a pump-n-run event, lend proof there is something for everyone.

The kickoff celebration highlighted longtime sponsors Mel Foster Co, Palmer College of Chiropractic, TBK Bank, Unity Point/Trinity, Fleet Feet, Visit Quad-Cities, Crawford Brew Works, and second- and third-year sponsors XPAC and Nature’s Treatment of Illinois.

The day also brought to light the charitable arms of the event, including “Shoes for Quad Cities Kids,’’ and “US Too,’’ bringing great awareness and assistance for those dealing with prostate cancer.

“Last year we shared over 500 new pairs of running shoes for kids in the area,’’ Moreno said. “And over $100,000 has been raised on behalf of the battle against prostate cancer. It is so important to be able to give back.’’

While extolling the virtues of the many sponsors that made the TBK Bank Quad Cities Marathon special, Moreno said he is appreciative of the longtime commitment Rock valley has made to the event.

“There are companies that center themselves on helping others, bettering lives, having a positive impact on the community it serves, and that’s what’s special about Rock Valley Physical Therapy,’’ said Moreno. “Rock Valley’s commitment to this event is something we do not take for granted. Rock Valley is an amazing steward, not only for the running community but for the betterment of our entire community.’’

“We care and love the community,’’ said retired TBK Bank president John DeDoncker, who serves these days as Brand Ambassador for TBK Bank. “Everyone you see here that has attached their company to something as special as this genuinely cares about their community.

Everyone here – and many others – understand how important this event is – and are committed to bettering the community by being a part of it.’’
