Jason Viel, MS, LAT, ATC, Rock Valley Physical Therapy’s Director of Athletic Training Services, has been awarded the Athletic Trainer Service Award by the National Association of Athletic Trainers.
The 2025 NATA convention was held in Orlando, Florida, at the Orange County Convention Center, June 24-27.
A beacon of positive guidance across many local, state, and national athletic trainer organizations, Viel was cited for his commitment to leadership, volunteer service, advocacy, and professional activities at the local and state levels. ATSA recipients have been involved in professional associations, community organizations, grassroots public relations efforts, and service as a volunteer athletic trainer.
“This award is a huge honor for me, and I share it with all the amazing ATs I have worked with in various positions with IATS, MAATA and NATA,’’ said Viel, the head athletic trainer at Bettendorf, Iowa’s Pleasant Valley High School. Viel earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science/Athletic Training from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and his master’s in athletic training from Indiana State University.
“Along with our great ATs at Rock Valley. I don’t view this as an individual award. I share it with the many ATs I have had the joy of working with and volunteering with throughout my career.”
