Why did you become a Therapist?
I knew I needed a profession that helps to empower individuals to build independence within their daily routines and meaningful occupations while also bridging the gap to community reintegration and participation. Within outpatient peds, my goal is to help children build foundational and developmentally appropriate skills essential to engage in meaningful occupations.

What are you involved in in your community?

Currently I am continuing my doctoral project, which included creating an adaptive swim lesson curriculum, screening tools, OT assessments we can utilize to measure skill level, and outcome tools we can utilize to measure progress. I am now a certified adaptive swim instructor working with RIFAC to provide these lessons to children of all abilities.

Awards & Certifications:

  • Swim Angelfish Adaptive Swim Whisper (Levels 1-4) (adaptive swim instructor)
  • Learned the EASI assessment during a research project with our OT professors at SAU, alongside clinical practice of performing the assessment on various children within the community
  • Honors Society in OT School
