Why did you become an Occupational Therapist?

When I was in high school I was always involved in sports and I was always hurt. I spent a lot of time in both physical and occupational therapy. I have always been a “fixer” and knew I wanted to do something in the health care field. I have undergone a lot of shoulder rehab and surgeries and one of my favorite therapists was an Occupational Therapist that specialized in shoulders. The values around OT and the ability to adapt equipment and be a part of the rehab team to help make individuals more independent in their daily lives was pretty special to me. I love helping people and this was a perfect fit for me.

What are you involved with in your community?

I am involved in my children’s school and currently sit on their PTO board. I enjoy volunteering at local events throughout the year in the Muscatine area.
