Meet Misti Thompson

Athletic Trainer, LAT, ATC

School Covered: Xavier High School

Misti is from and currently resides in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Misti received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in Athletic Training. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, serving her community, helping run events and help families for her husband’s military non-profit, Salute to the Fallen Foundation, as well as spend as much time outdoors as she can.

Why did you become an Athletic Trainer?
I became an Athletic Trainer after sustaining my own injury resulted in me missing my senior year. I love being able to help people at what they think is their lowest or most challenging time and challenging them in ways they didn’t think they could to be able to go out and participate in something they love.

What are you involved with in your community?
My husband has a non-profit that he started called Salute to the Fallen Foundation, I am a Secretary on that board as well as help with event planning, family aid and much more. We serve active duty, veterans and their families by bringing awareness and financial assistance to multiple military causes including Gold Star Families, veteran suicide, PTSD, homelessness and much more. I am also involved in the community via church events that focus on serving our community and am a co-regional representative on Rock Valley’s Philanthropic committee and aim at serving our community from a company stand-point as well.
