Why did you become a Therapist?

In undergrad I thought I wanted to go down the path of being a Chemistry teacher and then changed to thinking I wanted to be a surgeon. Through some unexpected events in my life, I learned more about PT. Being able to teach, differentially diagnose, and problem solve with patients and students brought all three worlds together.

What are you involved in in your community?

Over the years, I have stayed consistently active with many community and professional boards, as well as coaching club and high school sports. For APTA-IA, I am currently the Federal Affairs Liaison. Locally, I am the President-elect of the Board of Directors for Sunrise Retirement Community, on the Advisory Board for Western Iowa Technical College’s PTA Program, and an Assistant High School Soccer Coach for Sioux City North High School. I also provide approximately 100 hours a year of pro bono youth conditioning and sideline coverage.
